My Frugal Friday

First of all, I need you to know that I am fully aware of how dorky I am about to be. But I'm so totally stoked about my grocery shopping trip that I simply have to share with you. Feel free to ignore this post if you can't take it. I understand.

I got all of the stuff in the picture for $1.00. A DOLLAR, you guys. That's five packages of chicken nuggets that the kids love, four tubes of toothpaste we actually use, 4 rather delicious and low fat (for real) Ramen lunches, and two packages of liners. And honestly, the liners were .50 a piece and I got the rest of that stuff for free. FREE, baby! Love me some free stuff.

And in conclusion, if you aren't cutting coupons you are SO paying too much for your groceries. I do spend more time now preparing than I use to, but I am saving a kajillion dollars each week. For example, this week my grocery bill (including diapers for two & the billion gallons of milk we go through) was $106.54. With coupons and my Kroger card, my total was $66.48. I saved 38% of my bill just by taking a little more time. And those savings add up really fast. And they also earn me some major bonus points with David for being such a frugal little hausfrau. Pretty strong, huh?

Um, actually yes. That's amazing. So do you clip them all from the newspaper or what? (clearly I'm not a coupon clipper, but I really should be) My eyes almost popped out of my head when you said you got all that stuff for ONE DOLLAR (okay, slight exaggeration, but still amazing, and yes, strong). You go girl.

I'm way impressed! I love Kroger! And the best part, is ours has the gas station that for every 100 bucks you spend in groceries, you get 10 cents off a tank of gas. Love it!

so where do you get your coupons? Our paper doesn't offer much in that aspect.

It's an Answer Lightening Round!

1. Yes, I clip most of them from the newspaper, but some of them I find online.

2. In a later post, I'll tell you all the websites I peruse to find the best deals.

3. I use the Fort Worth Star Telegram, and it usually has a Smart Source insert, a Red Plum insert, and a Proctor & Gamble insert, but that varies week to week. Smaller papers don't usually have lots of inserts. Also, I buy a double paper that has double the coupons.

4. It's not just the coupons, it's shopping at a store that double/triples coupons up to a certain amount and then using them when that product is already on sale.

5. It's mostly cheating and finding out what someone else has done and then doing it myself :)

Great job Kristen. I am glad you are going to post more about the coupon thing.
